Self-Publishing Books

There’s never been a better time to publish your own book, or a more confusing one.

What’s the best route to take? Find a small publisher? Publish it yourself? Create an “eBook”? Use print-on-demand and produce an actual paper book? How do I promote it? Do I need an ISBN number and how do I get it? Do I need a distributor? What’s the most cost-effective print run and what printers are best suited for this?

These are all valid questions and ones I’ve been dealing with for almost a decade now. I’ve made lots of mistakes and have developed a real knowledge of the North American book publishing industry. I’ve had great success and equally great failures, and I can help you navigate your way through the process and develop a strategy for the most successful approach possible to get your book out there.

Amazon’s Kindle and Apple’s iPad are going to change the book publishing industry in even greater ways than the recent introduction of short-run printers and it creates a whole new set of challenges and a whole new world of opportunities for someone who has a great idea for a book.
